Eagle Adoration festival is a traditional festival, and it celebrated on April 30 of Tibetan calendar. According to the history, the establishment of the festival is to commemorate a Lama, who was recognized as Living Buddha when he was 8 years old. At the age of 13, he started to study the Ben Sect theory, collecting and writing the Ben scripture. Then he searched for all temples of Ben Sect in Tibet, and decided to compose a scripture of Ben Sect.
One day, when he passed by a Ben-Sect temple on the Benri Mountain’s mountainside, a famous mountain in Tibet. And the desolation of the temple made him upset, he feared the sect would disappear if no measures were taken. Therefore, he was determined to save it. Then he began to establish the regulations and systems of Ben Sect and begin to teach the knowledge on the Ben Sect what he learned. He believed that in this way, he could resume the former prosperity of the temple.
But unfortunately，the Lama is lying mortally sick. At his last minute, he told all monks the affairs of the temple are to be implemented in line with what he has designed even after he died, and he promise that he will never reincarnate. In every year, I would become 100 eagles and return to see you all and the temple.
In the next years, 100 eagles flew from the east of Benri Mountain as what the living Buddha had said on April 20 of Tibetan calendar，years after years. They turned around three times around the temple. People appreciate what the Lama did for the Ben career . Then they set April 20 of Tibetan calendar as the worship date to welcome 100 eagles and pray for bumper harvest as well as prosperity of human and livestock.
