The bar-headed goose is one kind of a gooses that breeds in Central Asia near mountain lakes. The throat and face are white, and the most distinguished character of the geese is that there are two bars of brownish-black colored feathers that wrap around the back of its head. That is the reason why it gets the name. The length of the adults bar-headed goose can reach70 cm and the weight can range from 2kg to 3kg.
This goose has a light gray body, white on its face and neck, and its legs and bill are orange. It has webbed feet and broad wings which are suitable for their swimming and flying. Their nests are always beside a variety of highland wetlands, such as mountain lakes with short grass, and near rocky outcrop,generally at the elevations between 4,000 and 5,300 meters. Female bar-headed goose can lay three to eight eggs at a time in a nest.
The bar-headed goose mainly relying on wheat, barley and rice crops for food.
