The Moinba Nationality
The Moinba have lived on the Tibet Plateau since ancient times. They are a small group, and only 25,000 Monpas can be found in Nyingchi County, one of the Tibet Autonomous Region, and Medog County. Theses two places have a lower altitude, but with rare seen tropical sceneries in Tibet.Explore Tibet Team, today I will introduce this small group people who lived on the Tibet Plateau.
The Moinbas have very close links between the Tibetan people through various aspects, such as political, economic and cultural exchanges and intermarriage over the years. They share the common belief with the Tibetans and these two nationalities also have similar customs and lifestyles.
The language of Moinba is complex. Even though it has own colloquialism, and they have no written language. So most Moinba people only can speech and write Tibetan instead of their language. Linguistically, the Moinba belong to the Moinba sub-group of the Sino-Tibetan language family.
The staple food of Moinba consists of cereal, fish, meat and vegetable. Like Tibetan people, the Moinbas also eat zhamba, butter tea and pepper. No matter men or women, they all enjoy drinking wine.
The livelihood of Moinba is based on agriculture, animal husbandry, forestry, and handicrafts.
