Buddhism is the teaching of Lord Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama)who lived about 25 centuries ago. Buddha literally means “awaken or enlightened”.The main teaching of Buddha is to awaken us from the darkness of ignorance. Buddhism is widely spread in the Asian nations initially and became the domain religion in the Asian countries.

Buddhism is divided into two major sects: Mahayana and Hinayana. Mahayana is a broader in terms of Buddhism:In the Mahayana tradition a follower seeks to attain enlightenment not only for themselves but for the benefit of all sentient beings. According to Mahayana’s teaching, self-enlightenment is not the goal but let all the sentient beings enlighten together from the circle of birth and death. Hinayana is a minor filed in terms of  Buddhism and the prime purpose of this sect is to enlighten oneself from the circle of birth and death and save oneself from the suffering of human life. The main purpose of Mahayana is to help others and the main purpose of Hinayana is to help self.
